Ineco has completed a feasibility study for the Egyptian government for what, starting in 2026, could be the country’s first high-speed line. The project covers more than a thousand kilometres connecting the capital city of Cairo with Luxor, Aswan and Hurghada, on the shores of the Red Sea, at a speed of more than 230 kilometres per hour. The study was based on the design of the line at a scale of 1:25,000, a demand study and a socio-economic and financial profitability analysis.
The UK government has awarded Ineco, in consortium with US-based Aecom and British company Capita, the contract for the preliminary design of civil works and environmental impact studies for Lot 2 of Phase 2B of the HS2 high-speed line.
