The increase in tourism in the area around Santa Marta, especially nature tourism, is boosting activity at Simón Bolívar airport. According to the Master Plan that Ineco has just completed, passenger numbers could grow from 2.4 million in 2019 to 7.3 million over the coming decades. Consequently, a variety of expansion works are proposed.
