After 52 years in service, the Recoletos tunnel in Madrid, the backbone of the Madrid railway system and the busiest tunnel in Spain, is undergoing a complete renovation designed and managed by Ineco. Its 7.3 kilometres connect the two major stations of Atocha and Chamartín along the city’s most important urban axis.

With the opening of the high-speed line, the trip between Madrid and Granada will take 2 hours and 45 minutes. With the new Commuter station at Mirasierra, located between the Pitis and Ramón y Cajal stations, residents of Fuencarral–El Pardo will have an integrated service on line 9 of the Madrid Metro. Ineco collaborated in its design and construction.
